Is kindergarten a half day? No, we have full day kindergarten. Our dual immersion curriculum is best executed with full day schedules, allowing for equal time in English and in Spanish. Children are given snacks and opportunities for free play.

Since I already have one child attending HCCS, won’t my other child entering kindergarten automatically get in? Your kindergartner has a very good chance of getting in, but not a guarantee. We only have openings for 60 kindergartners. Children of founders and staff are drawn first during the lottery.  The remainder of the seats are filled by siblings, students living in the attendance area, and then everyone else. The siblings who do not get in will be placed on the waiting list in the order they were drawn.  If a student decides not to attend, then the open seat will be offered to the first student on the waiting list.

Do you have a cafeteria? We have a multi-function facility for use as the cafeteria, gymnasium and events such as assemblies.

Do you have free and/or reduced lunches? Yes we do. Applications are available at the office. For more information about meal pricing, times, and income guidelines for free or reduced lunches please click HERE.

Do you have free breakfast for everyone? Currently we do not offer free breakfast for everyone, however free and/or reduced breakfasts are available. Applications are available at the office. For more information about meal pricing, times, and income guidelines for free or reduced lunches and breakfasts please click HERE.

Can my child go to the YMCA after school? We have made arrangements with the YMCA for students who wish to go to the Y after school. Parents must fill out a Caldwell Family YMCA Transportation Request Form available at the Y or printable here. A YMCA staff member needs to sign, date, and stamp the form which must then be returned to the office here at HCCS. We will keep the record on file. A list of students who are authorized to walk to the Y after school will be maintained. Students walk to the Y as a group, supervised by HCCS staff.

What electives do you offer for middle school? Electives are offered as availability and the students’ schedules permit. Orchestra, Literature – Idaho Battle of the Books, , College and Career Explorations, Myths and Folktales, Books and Movies, Tools for Middle School Success, Spanish, and Humanities are electives offered for middle school students. Electives may change from year to year as our school continues to grow and evolve.

Do you have a special education program? Yes, HCCS provides special education and related services to students who have IEP’s, just like any other public school. We provide a continuum of services to meet each student’s individual needs.

Do you teach other languages? K-5th grade are taught in Spanish for half of the day. In middle school, we continue our students’ bilingual education with Spanish classes in 6th and 7th grade and offering it as an elective in 8th grade.
